Boomers Sign Pair of Returners
Boomers Manager Jamie Bennett continues to build out the 2025 roster with the re-signing of Outfielder Andrew Sojka and Catcher John Fiorenza.
Andrew Sojka joined the Boomers late in the 2024 season after finishing his Northwoods League season with the Willmar Stingers. Sojka posted an excellent summer with ttting .398 with 22 home runs and 73 RBIs over 58 games. He also compiled 43 stolen bases in 46 attempts. Sojka, who is originally from Huntington Beach, CA, played collegiately at Cal State Northridge. During his time there, Andrew batted .302 with 8 homers and 64 runs batted in. Sojka signed with the Boomers on August 3rd and made an immediate impact with his speed in the outfield. He drove in 21 runs in 28 games, along with 7 steals.

John Fiorenza returns to the Boomers after an injury shortened season in 2024. John, who is from Yankeetown, FL, is entering his 3rd season of professional baseball, all in Schaumburg. Prior to joining the Boomers, Fiorenza played for the Flager College Saints for 3 years. In his first year with the Boomers, John appeared in 37 games, batting .221, with 2 home runs and 12 RBIs. His 2024 season was cut short due to injury, only making 4 plate appearances.
