Boomers Sweep Joliet

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Shumpei Yoshikawa threw a complete game as the Schaumburg Boomers completed a three-game sweep of the Joliet Slammers on Thursday afternoon with a 5-1 victory at Wintrust Field.
Yoshikawa retired nine in row from the second into the fifth and then retired 11 straight from the fifth through the eighth. The right-hander allowed one run on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts to earn his first win of the season.
The Boomers scored twice in the second inning. Will Prater lifted a sacrifice fly and the second run scored on a wild pitch. The lead extended to 4-0 when Zach Huffins posted a two-run homer in the fifth. Kyle Fitzgerald capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly. Gaige Howard and Huffins posted two hits each as the Boomers finished with seven in the win.
