RECAP: Boomers Fall Late

AVON, Ohio — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, fell to 0-2 on the season when the Lake Erie Crushers walked off with a 2-1 victory on Saturday night.
Right-hander Charle Rosario put together a stellar performance in his Schaumburg debut. Rosario tossed six blank innings and scattered four hits with one walk and six strikeouts. The former Red Sox hurler was handed a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Rookie Tyler Sciacca walked in his first professional at bat and moved to third on a single from Alexi Colon, who finished with a pair of hits in the game. Sciacca scored on a groundout from Jordan Dean. Lake Erie tied the game with a single run in the eighth and earned the walk-off on a two-out solo homer from Ryan Hutchison.
The opening series of the 2014 season concludes on Sunday afternoon with a 12:05 p.m. contest. LHP Danny Jimenez (0-0, 0.00) will make his season debut for the Boomers opposite LHP Todd Kibby (0-0, 0.00).
