Boomers Add Former Twins Fourth Rounder
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — It is with great pleasure that the four-time Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers announce the addition of Seth Gray to the 2024 roster.
Gray was a fourth-round pick by the Twins in 2019 and reached Triple-A. The Ohio native made 10 appearances in MLB Spring Training this year and has played both corner outfield and corner infield.
Gray spent four seasons in the minor league system of the Twins including two at Double-A or higher. The left-handed hitter played 84 games at Double-A Wichita in 2023, batting .260 with nine homers, 37 RBIs and 14 stolen bases while posting an on-base percentage of .366 with a .400 slugging percentage. Gray also made an appearance with Triple-A St. Paul.
During 2022, the Wright State product belted 17 homers combined between Wichita and High-A Cedar Rapids. Over four seasons with the Twins, Gray played in 379 games across five levels hitting 48 homers to go with 193 RBIs and 36 steals.
Selected 119th overall in 2019, Gray helped Wright State to a 42-17 season. The First Team All-Horizon League player hit .351 while appearing in all 59 contests. Gray scored 58 times to go with 73 hits, 13 doubles, 11 homers and 70 RBIs. The infielder ranked 15th in the country in RBIs. Gray was a three-time all-conference choice while playing for Wright State and spent a summer in the prestigious Cape Cod League, playing for Hyannis in 2018.
The Boomers have made the playoffs in three consecutive seasons and six times in franchise history and will open the 2024 season on May 10 at Washington. The home opener will take place on May 13 against the Tri-City ValleyCats. Schaumburg has led the league in attendance every year since 2014 and has set single season records for attendance each of the past two years. The team became the first in the league to draw over 200,000 fans in back-to-back seasons since Southern Illinois from 2007-2010.
