Schaumburg, IL- The Schaumburg Boomers kick of 2024 with the signing of a trio of arms for the upcoming season. Cristian Lopez, Daiveyon Whittle, and Matt Craven all return for the 2024 season. All three guys were a part of the 2023 roster. 

Cristian Lopez is back after a solid first season with the Boomers. Lopez, a Santa Ana, CA native, appeared in 35 games for the Boomers primarily as a reliever. Cristian amassed a record of 5 wins and 3 losses with 1 save over 59 innings. In those 59 innings, Cristian struck out 53 batters and had an ERA of 4.83. Before signing with the team in 2023, Cristian played for the Williamsport Crosscutters of the MLB Draft League after finishing his college baseball career at UIC. With the Flames, Cristian spilt time as a starter and a reliever totaling a record of 8-7 with 1 save. In his 96 innings in college, Lopez struck out 101 batters. Cristian Lopez looks to further his role in the bullpen for the Boomers this season with our second signing this year; Daiveyon Whittle. 

Daiveyon Whittle came to the team in a late season trade with the Windy City Thunderbolts on August 14th. Daiveyon had an up and down season for the Thunderbolts and Boomers with a record of 3-6 and 10 saves in 34 innings. In those 34 innings, Whittle went 1-2 for the Boomers in only 9 innings and 8 appearances. Prior to his time in the Frontier League, Whittle was a 23rd round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2018 MLB Draft 

Matt Craven returns to the Boomers after making a brief appearance with the team in 2023 during the road trip to Canada. In his 1 appearance, Craven gave up 5 runs in 3 innings against the Ottawa Titans on May 31st. Prior to signing with the Boomers, Matt played his college ball in Louisville, KY at Bellermine University. During his time there, he appeared in 57 games, striking out 80 batters over 87 innings. Craven will be looking to fill a larger role in the front end of the bullpen for the Boomers.
