Boomers Add 2 for 2024
The Schaumburg Boomers and Manager Jamie Bennett have signed INF Keelyn Johnson & OF Aaron Simmons for the 2024 season.
Keelyn Johnson returns to the Boomers after a short stint with the team in 2022. Johnson appeared in 3 games for the Boomers in that season. Prior to arriving in Schaumburg in 2022, Keelyn played college baseball at Louisiana Chistian for 5 years (name changed from Louisiana College in 2021). During his college career, primarily at SS, Keelyn batted .406 with 14 homeruns and 127 RBI’s. He had career highs in both during his senior year, where he hit .482 with 6 homeruns and 42 RBI’s. Keelyn also walked 91 times and stole 13 bases in his time at Louisiana Christian.
Aaron Simmons arrives in Schaumburg after a couple stops with MLB Partner League teams. In 2023, Aaron played for the Lake Country DockHounds of the American Association, where he batted .206 with2 homeruns and 16 RBI’s in 43 games. The previous year, Simmons, a native of Franklin, Wis, played for the Great Falls Voyagers of the Pioneer League. In 22 games, Aaron batted .265, driving in 11 with 2 homeruns. Aaron played college ball at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Over the 5 seasons he played for the Pointers, he batted .353 with 42 homeruns to go along with 167 RBI’s. Career highs in both came during his senior season with 22 homers and 66 RBI’s. Aaron also swiped 12 bases and drew 49 walks.
