Veteran Catcher Returns For 2022
The Schaumburg Boomers have re-signed veteran catcher Nick Oddo for the 2022 season. The veteran catcher will be back for his fifth season with the Boomers.
In the 2021 season, Oddo batted .204 with a .273 on-base percentage in 69 games. Oddo was a regular behind the plate for the Boomers, where he had 200 putouts on the season. Since joining the Boomers in 2017, Oddo has been a part of both Frontier League Championship teams in 2017 and 2021; he was also named an all-star during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Oddo, a native out of Whittier, California, attended California State University San Bernardino, where he batted .273 with a .315 on-base percentage in 30 games for the Coyotes baseball team. After college, Oddo went on to play for the Las Vegas Train Robbers in the Pecos League during the 2014 season.
“Can’t really say enough about what Nick has done for this club. He puts in the time and effort every day and makes us a better club. I’m excited to see him continue to grow not just as a player but as a leader for the Boomers,” said Manager Jamie Bennett.
The Boomers return home to Wintrust Field in the spring looking to defend their 2021 Frontier League Championship.
