Boomers Add New Infielder for 2022
Schaumburg, IL - The Schaumburg Boomers have added newcomer William Salas to their infield for the 2022 season. Salas is set for his first season with the defending Frontier League Champs.
Salas, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, but currently resides in Sacramento, CA, played baseball at Marshalltown Community College located in Marshalltown, IA, before transferring to Graceland University in Lamoni, IA. In 2021, Salas played 33 games for the Gastonia Honey Hunters, which is a part of the Atlantic League, batting .194 with an on-base percentage of .298. Later, he was traded to the Houston Apollos, where he had a batting average of .347 and an on-base percentage of .439.
“William will be a really good addition for us. He brings a lot of experience and adds some versatility to our infield. He has always had a consistent approach at the plate and can help this ball club in a lot of ways,” said Manager Jamie Bennett.
The Boomers return home to Wintrust Field in the spring looking to defend their 2021 Frontier League Championship.
